Off the Runway

In Karma Pink – Amna Kardar at PIFD Graduation Show

In a fresh-off-the PSFW’13 runway jumpsuit by KARMA PINK, Amna Kardar conducted the proceedings of PIFD Graduation show in Lahore yesterday. It called for a refreshing change to see Amna finally ditch the gowns & bodycons for a chic monochrome look. Allow us to say that this is the best we have seen her look in the recent past ; love the Gatsby-ish top on her.

In a perfect world we would have loved relaxed , sexy waves thrown on the shoulders , and the pant creases taken care of…  But for now we’re simply celebrating the change. Keep em’ coming Amna. We’re loving it ! ;)

The signature Ali Xeeshan Muse

We’re absolutely in love with Ali Xeeshan’s wonderful bridal lehengas coming to life by way of his muses. First it was Zara Peerzada who wore a crimson-gotta work lehenga with a white tube-top & red lips at the PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week. At a recent event, Henna was snapped wearing Ali’s Bridal Couture Week 2012 collection baroque lehenga with a grey vest & wrap-scarf. Both the ladies looked gorgeous at their respective events. There’s nothing that we would like to change about either looks.

It’s great to see designers like Ali Xeeshan come up with fun, quirky ways of promoting traditional Pakistani attire. We feel this East-meets-West marriage must be taken to International red carpets & at local launch events. Plus, it can make for a lovely statement outfit for mehendis & dholkis ;)

Well done Ali !

Mahira Khan : In Misha Lakhani

A recent airing of  ‘Jago Pakistan Jago‘ had Mahira Khan put in a special guest appearance with the entire ‘Sheher-e-Zaat‘  Team. This fresh-off-the-Fashion Pakistan Week-runway Misha Lakhani velvet dress was also spotted on Madiha Sultan at Lal’s Patisserie launch recently (picture below). While Madiha kept her’s casual with a sleek tan belt, Mahira paired her’s with a broader one and ochre silk pants. Compared to Madiha, we liked Mahira’s version better, with the hairdo , longer sleeves & pants, although we feel a pair of navy pants would have been a much better choice. A minor gripe but the creases in the pants make it an ‘Almost there‘ for us.

Fashion Round-up : Kareena Kapoor for ‘Heroine’ promotions

While Kareena Kapoor is busy promoting her forthcoming film ‘Heroine’ these days, we keeping a keen  eye on her outfit choices for each of her appearances. From fashion’s point of view the film looks quite promising, and so does the promotional tour – So far so good . Here’s a fashion round-up of Bebo’s promotional tour so far:-

Kareena Kapoor for Heroine promotions

Kareena Kapoor for ‘Heroine’ promotions

1. In Dolce & Gabbana : The floral shift dress looked absolutely lovely on Kareena  and compared to other appearances this was one of our personal favorites – very chic yet classy.

2.  In Falguni & Shane Peacock  & nude Loubs We certainly appreciate Kareena for opting for longer hemlines as of late & she wore the dress almost perfectly with a sleek ponytail & nude Christian Louboutin pumps. Although we re still unsure if it could have turned out better minus the the necklace. She was styled by Tanya Ghavri.

3.  In Osman YousefzadaWearing one of the outfits from the designer’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection (buy here) , Bebo stepped out today for another promotional event . The necklace brought the an otherwise great look down & should have been omitted altogether. Loved the hairdo. She was styled by Tanya Ghavri again.

4. In Manish Malhotra Anarkali For the music launch at the Siddhivinayak temple, Kareena was spotted in a a lime yellow Anarkali dress by her long time friend & favorite designer, Manish Malhotra. The color works wonders on Kareena’s skin tone & we couldnt help but drool over her.

5. In Manish Malhotra (again) The Indian Idol appearance of Bebo saw her in the same colors & the same designer as at the music launch. Betwen the Anarkali & the Sari , its hard to pick a favorite but for us the Anarkali wins by just a little margin since the sari was a Manish Malhotra clich’e.

6. In Pernia Qureshi Wearing Pernia Qureshi from the Pernia’s PopUp Shop , Bebo looked fun & playful in the double collar pleated dress (buy here).  As much as we loved the dress on her, the black pumps were a killjoy ; it would have been so much better had she opted for Tan pumps or peep-toes instead. Tanya Ghavri again.

The Sartorialist Aamina Sheikh at NYCIFF 2012

One to be almost always impeccably dressed, Aamina Sheikh went for a complete Sartorial Round at the recently concluded New York City International Film Festival 2012. After the snake-skin Maheen Karim (See here) & the gorgeous Navy Elan dress (See here) , it was an embellished thigh-cut Ayesha Farook Hashwani for Aamina at the Awards Ceremony. This fresh-off-the FPW 2012 runway dress made for an excellent choice for the Big Night & she looked absolutely drool-worthy. Statement Brick-Red Lips completed her look…We re beginning to fall for Aamina’s minimalistic sense of style ;)

A separate story altogether – Lux Style Awards 2012

Of the ladies who opted for separates at the Lux Style Awards 2012, who do you thinked faired ‘em the best – Maram Azmat in the Kamiar Rokni floral top & skirt, Redah Misbah in the Fahad Hussayn number or Omer Farooq’s wife in the Muse embellished top ? For us, all the three did a good job with their looks, especially Omer’s wife (sorry we keep calling her that that since we dont know her name) , however, if we would still like to change something , it would be her clutch. Love that top.

Best Dressed at Lux Style Awards 2012 – Sana in Zaheer Abbas

Probably the most surprising & unexpected appearance at the Lux Style Awards 2012 was Sana’s which should put (should have by now) all the models, designers & actresses to shame. For us, she was a clear winner in the rust Zaheer Abbas gown. Major props for adding the gold belt to break the monotony of the color. We re so glad someone from the film fraternity has finally stepped out of the stereotypical eastern-glamourama look and opted for a more sexy, stylish one instead.

We recall having reviewed the same Zaheer Abbas dress in one of AWA’s earliest posts. (Read the full article here). It might be our bias talking here, as we mentioned back then how eagerly we were waiting to see it on a Red Carpet (See the picture below). Wish come true eh? ;)
