This has been in our pending items tray since quite sometime now; if there’s any such thing as a blogger’s block, we plead guilty. That , and a surprise for you guys that has been sucking the blood & sweat outta us. Well, we’re not giving any teasers at the moment, but trust us, it’ll be worth the wait :) …. For now, let’s talk Fashion… Accompanying Ms. Obaid at the News and Doc Emmy Awards last month was Fazeelat Aslam, a journalist & co-producer of the award winning film ‘Saving Face’. She was wearing a black Zara dress (buy here) with matching BCBG Mary Jane pumps. A chunky necklace from her mom’s jewelry line, Manko by Mona Aslam and african designer Patrick Mavro’s silver cuff finished the look. There’s nothing that we can fault with the look – It was Minimal & Chic , just the way we like it.

She’s bringing yet another accolade with her back home. Yes, Sharmeen Obaid’s ‘Saving Face’ has been awarded as the Best Documentary at the prestigious News & Doc Emmy Awards 2013 last night. She was wearing a black embellished Sherwani over a monochrome printed shirt & creme pants, all by Sania Maskatiya. We must say, the addition of sleeves to the jacket completely transformed the look & it was good to see the hair left open for a more youthful look. The animals & birds have been so nicely done on the sherwani.
Check back later for better quality pics.

When the first pictures of Zara Peerzada at the LUX Style Awards started rolling in, we were slightly apprehensive about that marcel waves bob. It was a risky choice, considering there are few hair stylists who know the difference between marcel waves and tonged curls. But now that we have better quality full lengths, boy did she score a perfect ten. While most ladies trotted around in gold gowns and chiffon dresses, Zara changed things up by going for black and white monochrome separates, custom designed by Kamiar Rokni. Dangly earrings, snakeskin clutch and red lips added just the right amount of Red Carpet glamour to an otherwise chic and understated look. We didn’t call her the Alexa Chung of Pakistan for nothing ! (and most of you disagreed back then – not fair )
On a side, the strapless tops have become signature to Zara ( see here and here) and perfectly complement her petite frame.

How dapper does Kami himself look ! Stripes + stubble + a gorgeous muse = what more could we ask for.
Oddly enough, both the newly wed couples were snapped in very similar looks at the LSA 2013 ; her in an elegantly draped cream sari and long side swept hair, him playing the dapper hubby in a black suit, matching tie and white shirt. Wait for it. The fashion face-off didn’t stop there. The Hubbies decided to keep their stubbles for the night while their lady loves went for dangly earrings and similar sandals to finish their perfect Bahu-Look. Strange, no?
Congratulating Mehreen on her well-deserved win for the Best Female Model. She was wearing a white chikankari sari by Mehdi & a matching Bottega Veneta Clutch.
So tell us , prefer a straight faced Atif-Sara Bharwana or a cheery Mehreen Syed-Ahmed Sheikh? Is it just us who are not aware of this wardrobe staple but what is that weird horizantal black strip around Atif’s chest? :/

There’s no Red Carpet known to mankind that went without a few black dress spottings. At the Lux Style Awards too, we saw Khadijah, Iman Ahmed and model Amna Ilyas wearing variations of a good ol’ black dress. Like how Khadijah and Amna accessorized theirs – Khadijah paired her Jaun Paul Guiltier one with a traditional neckpiece, gold peep-toes and a metal box clutch , Amna added a statement Shehla Chatoor clutch and black pumps to complete her look. Wish Iman too had added some flavour to hers & skipped that scarf altogether (why do women wrap a scarf over dresses , is beyond our comprehension)

On a side note, there’s so much of an irony in the picture above. Khadijah , Iman and Shehla were all nominated in the Luxury pret -womenswear category. It was Iman however who bagged both the awards for Pret and Luxury Pret. Doesn’t the picture above raise questions over the credibility of LSAs ? Does a common woman know of/wear Body Focus? Do we ever see anyone wearing Body Focus at coveted events ? Is there a Pakistan outside Karachi?
Amna was wearing Shehla Chatoor. Love both the dress and the retro hairdo on her. Trust Amna to always look chic and speak well at the Red Carpets (if you heard her speak via the LSA Live stream). She looked Great.Check out her last year LSA appearance here.

Who better to start the red carpet round-up of LUX Style Awards 2013 with, than the LUX Girls themselves. For Aamina, it was a shimmery white thigh high dress, perhaps coordinated to match her LUX color. Diamond earrings by Damas, a bouffant hair-do and silver accessories spiced up an otherwise boring dress (that’s what happens when you get it made/borrowed from a make-up artist i.e. Nabila). We say this because compared to the Aamina’s previous LSA appearances ( see here & here) , this was a very safe choice & didn’t do any favors to the lovely actress. A full Marc-Jacobs inspired bouffant and metal clutch could have lifted up the whole look.
What can be termed as our favourite gold gown on the Red Carpet, Humaima put in an appearance in a custom-made Layla Chatoor floor sweeping gown. Quite surprisingly, Humaima’s appearance on the LSA Red carpet was thus far her best ( see her last year’s here) . BUT – The dress had so much potential had she not styled it with her signature look. The thick mass of locks should have been tied up to show the shoulder detailing and those stompy pumps replaced with strappy sandals instead. But she’s getting there, and we’re happy about it.
By the way , that’s a Layla Chatoor clutch on Humaima , one which are giving in our giveaway. Have you participated yet? Click here

After her glamorous presentation at the PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week, we spotted pieces from Shehla Chatoor’s Soigne collection at two different events. A debutant on our Blog, Ammara Hikmat was snapped in a slightly modified, jumpsuit version of Shehla’s silk dress at the 2013 Cannes film Festival (turn’s out Ali Zafar & Ayesha Fazli weren’t our only exports) . A pair of Mango hoops and a tan Tory Burch clutch added just the right amount of finishing details. The looked could have been further elevated with different hair , beachy waves or a Grecian updo maybe, but she still managed to look great.
Shehla too attended the recent launch of L’Oreal Revitalift BB Cream launch in one of her own designs. The jacket version was of course a perfect pick over the white separates and she looked fab head-to-toe. So Whatdyya think, between the designer and her Muse, who get’s your vote this time?
