To recieve her prestigious Crystal Award at the World Economic Forum meeting in Davos last night, Sharmeen Obaid picked up a shimmery gold Nida Azwer jumpsuit & embellished jacket and paired the outfit with a custom-made Samia & Azmay Shahzada swarovski flag clutch. Although it was reminiscent of Sharmeen’s last award show appearance in a gold & black ensemble, this is probably the best we have seen Sharmeen look at an International platform. Loved the berry lips & the length of the jacket on her.

In a perfect world we would have skipped the clutch altogether (which is more like a box version of Mahin Hussain flag clutch sported by Sharmeen earlier – see here & here ). It seemed to jarring & match-ey against the outfit. Those lovely chand-tara earrings (see if you can spot them in the last picture) were Pakistani enough.

Couple Talk : Ali Zafar and wife Ayesha Fazli at Zee Cine Awards 2013

Giving all the B’Town actresses a run for their money, Ayesha Fazli accompanied husband Ali Zafar at the Zee Cine Awards last night in a gorgeous black jumpsuit + lace jacket by Zara Shahjahan. A black McQueen clutch, nude peep-toes & emerald earrings completed her look. Ayesha almost always makes great sartorial choices for the red carpet & we love her effortlessly chic sense of style ; no floor sweeping tails & no unnecessary skin-show :P Loved the ombre hair & pop of color by way of lips.

P.S. You might recall Ayesha wearing Zara Shahjahan last year too at Karan Johar’s Birthday bash.

Humaima Malick at Asian Pacific Screen Awards

This might be coming a little late, but we just got our hands on Humaima Malick’s pictures from the Asian Pacific Screen Awards held back in November in Sydney. The actress who received the award for Best Actress for her role in the BOL ( yet again) posed for photogs in a cobalt blue halter neck gown & side swept waves. We like the color & the styling, however the fit of the dress waist-up felt off. The neon yellow clutch seemed out of place too. We’re still waiting for that one particular appearance of Humaima’s that’ll sweep us off our feet – we know she will – one day !

Can anybody identify the dress for us?

In Marc Jacobs : Frieha Altaf at Masala Awards

At the Masala Awards held in Dubai last week, designer duo Sana Safinaz were crowned as the ‘Best International Designer of the Year’ . In attendance was Frieha Altaf wearing a strapless grey Marc Jacobs dress who received the coveted award from Sophie Choudry (in Manish Malhotra). Frieha almost always wows us, but this time we’re iffy over the choice of the dress itself and the excessive bronzer/tanning issues make it worse. Would have loved to see her in Manish Malhotra or even Sana Safinaz for that matter.

On a side note, congratulations to Sana Safinaz for much deserved win.

Meesha Shafi at Doha Tribeca Film Festival

One to almost always make atypical sartorial choices on the red carpet, Meesha Shafi attended the opening night ceremony and gala screening of “The Reluctant Fundamentalist” at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival in a white Cecilie Melli Maria Kjole dress. The fit & the fall of this Norwegian designer’s dress fell perfectly on Meesha & she accessorized it well with a glitter box clutch & soft wavy hair.

Do we Like it? Yes , Are we blown away by it ? No. Probably it had to do with the make-up which made her look washed out . A pop of color on the cheeks or lips would have done wonders. Whats your say?

Sharmeen Obaid at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2012

It came as a great early morning surprise to stumble upon a picture of Sharmeen Obaid gracing the Red carpet of the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2012 held in New York City on November 12th. For the awards night, Sharmeen picked up a black & gold bespoke Sana Safinaz dress & paired it up with a gold Fashion Compassion Clutch & red lips. Loved the addition of the shawl to neutralize the gold.

Sharmeen received an honorary award for her film ‘Saving Face‘ from Diane Von Furstenberg (DVF). Her video titled ”Letters to Malala” (watch the video here) was also screened when she came to accept her award . You can watch a snippet from her acceptance speech here.

In Sadaf Malaterre : Humaima Malick at SAIFF 2012

Humaima Malick recently won the first ever South Asian Rising Star Film Award in the Best Lead Actress category for her role in film BOL at SAIFF 2012 (South Asian International Film Festival). For the awards night held in New York, she picked a sequinned Sadaf Malaterre dress from the designer’s ‘Blackbird’ collection which come as a collaboration of art & fashion between Sadaf & artist Anjum Alix Noon. She kept the look casual with the hair left open & a pair of yellow pumps. We like that Humaima opted for a fun & quirky dress instead of a pageantry floor-length & kept the look minimal.

P.S. Humaima was the only Pakistani at the Film Festival which is the largest entertainment gala related to South Asian entertainment industry held in the United States in collaboration with HBO. She was competing with Indian actresses Tanishtha Chatterjee, Parineeti Chopra, Rasika Dugal and Preeti Desai in the Best Lead Actress category. So Proud of you Humaima :)
