A Sartorial Controversy – Ayesha Omer’s Tee in Zindagi Gulzar Hai

Ayesha Omer’s appearance in the latest Episode of HumTV‘s popular Drama series ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai‘ has stirred quite a controversy these days. The T-Shirt that she wore read “Little Miss Jihad” with an image of a burqa clad , bomb strapped cartoon girl ( resembling the Little Miss Sunshine Cartoon series) printed underneath.

As with any other controversy, people particularly social media responded to it with mixed reviews. Much of the brouhaha was over the cartoon passing a mocking judgement over the Burqa ( Muslim women’s veil) & it’s resemblance to that of a ninja. The second of course is associating terrorism with Jihad ; a favorite national & international sport.

Shirin Ahmed’s Facebook status read:

While some were of the opinion that it was a harmless satirical comic and should be treated as one.

We’re not quite sure whether this should be interpreted as a Fashion Statement alone or promotion of a particular School of thought. But we would want to know your verdict on it. Leave your comment in the comments section below & let us know.

Ayesha Omer in Sania Maskatiya

Wearing a Sania Maskatiya drawstring silk shirt from the designer’s Matyala Collection, Ayesha Omer hosted the Grand Finale of CNBC musical show ‘Lights Camera Action’ recently. Like the model, she paired it up with black bottoms & signature straight hair.

Though a tad bit casual, we like how she kept the look minimal & opted for flats instead of heels. Well, thats just Ayesha.

Mahira Khan : In Misha Lakhani

A recent airing of ’Jago Pakistan Jago‘ had Mahira Khan put in a special guest appearance with the entire ‘Sheher-e-Zaat‘ Team. This fresh-off-the-Fashion Pakistan Week-runway Misha Lakhani velvet dress was also spotted on Madiha Sultan at Lal’s Patisserie launch recently (picture below). While Madiha kept her’s casual with a sleek tan belt, Mahira paired her’s with a broader one and ochre silk pants. Compared to Madiha, we liked Mahira’s version better, with the hairdo , longer sleeves & pants, although we feel a pair of navy pants would have been a much better choice. A minor gripe but the creases in the pants make it an ‘Almost there‘ for us.

Nabila donning some Trendy Accessories

A recent airing of Geo Shaan Say had Nabila put in an appearance looking uber stylish in a blue ombr’e blouse & creme wide legged pants. Compared to her previous appearance on the show (here), this was an absolute winner. Infact, one of the best outfit choices we have seen Nabila make recently. However what made the look stand out were trendy accessories ; a blue leather purse from YSL & Two-toned cobalt blue -aqua ZARA sandals perfectly complemented the separates.

Ombr’e Trend – Check ! Color Blocking Trend – Check ! Mixing High Street with High-End-fashion – Check !

Ayyan Ali on ‘Geo Shaan se’

Also making an appearance at one of the recent airings of Geo Shaan Se was Ayyan Ali , flaunting that figure in colored jeggings, a black tube top & cropped black blazer. While we really liked Ayyan’s outfit choice & the fact that she went for block heels to go with it, it was the Barbie-Doll hair that Killed it ! Hard to keep eyes off that thick mass of locks , reminiscent of Nabila’s Trend show that Ayyan walked at PLBW recently. That’s drawing wrong fashion inspirations Ayyan ; the show was’nt well received for precisely the same reason.

Nonetheless, the fact that she’s so pretty definitely helped. What do you think?

Mahira Khan : In Nida Azwer

It’s been a while that Mahira made it to these pages & we’re glad it was for good. A recent show of ‘Geo Shaan Se‘ had her put in a guest appearance to raise Breast Cancer awareness . She looked pretty & elegant in a monochrome Nida Azwer ensemble with matching kolhapuri chappals and vintage jhumkas.

Khirad nostalgia much? Or are you missing those locks as much as we are :(

Fashion Round-Up ‘Geo Shaan Se’ Morning Show

Of the ladies who made an appearance on the increasingly popular morning show ‘Geo Shaan Se’ recently, Nickie was a clear favorite of ours looking her sophisticated self in crisp creme colored pants with cobalt blue dress shirt & black pumps. We re glad Hadiqa bid farewell to her signature style shrugs (see here & here) , opting for a leopard print blazer this time round ; sorry no prizes for guessing , it was by Quiz again. Wish she skipped that aweful electric blue nail color on the toes but ankle up she looked nice.
