Best Dressed at Vogue India Beauty Awards 2012

1. Deepika Padukone in Dolce & Gabbana

Deepika attended the Vogue India Beauty Awards in full Glamourama mode wearing a shimmery gold & black Dolce & Gabbana dress. Big voluminous hair & gold cuffs completed her look. Veronica much, eh ? We see Deepika wear alot of golds as of late (See her look in Cocktail’s song ‘Main Sharabi’ & at Karan Johar’s birthday bash), and boy does she nail the look every single time. Loved it head-to-toe.

2. Dia Mirza

Why O Why didnt Dia get this haircut before? Its almost transformed her into a whole new person. Though the dress and shoes were not so inspirational, however, Dia completely owned the look keeping it simple & chic, & letting the new hair do most of the talking.

3. Kajol in Ayesha Depala

Gone are the days when Kajol used to show up at the awards wearing just anything from her closet & a no-make-up,no hair-do look. Kajol has come a far far way into pulling her act together & giving us the yester years beauty queen back. She looked quite elegant in the nude Ayesha Depala gown & the hair & make-up complemented the look perfectly.

4. Nargis Fakhri in Roberto Cavalli

When we first saw Ms. Fakhri in this Cavalli tiered dress, we were on the fence about it . But lets just accept it, the more we see it the more it grows on us – thanks to the styling – very edgy & very comfortable , especially the centre parted hair . Oh and good clutch choice there.

5. Sonali Bindre in Christian Dior

Should we say this appearance of Sonali’s marks her ‘comeback’ ? It called for a refreshing change to see her work that body hugging embellished Christian Dior dress with a feminine messy updo & just the perfect make-up & accessories. Here s hoping we keep seeing more of the ‘new Sonali’ in future .

Karan Johar’s Birthday Party (Part 2) – AWA’s Almost There List

In continuation of our last post, we compiled a list of celebrities from KJo’s party who we thought were ‘almost there’ and would have looked great had they made slight changes in their appearances. Do we like them? Yes. Are we Blown Away? No. Here’s why :-

1. Kareena Kapoor in All Saints

We loved the tribal dress on Kareena. What Didnt Work – The dress should have been one size plus considering the bust is squashed and the fat is kinda oozing out . We were’nt fans of the strappy gold heels either. The Dress screamed for peep-toes instead.

2. Anushka Sharma in Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna

One of the very few celebrities to go bold and different at the party was Anushka. Loved the Tailored suit on her chiselled frame. What Didnt Work – The hair were such killjoy. A sleek ponytail would have been just perfect for the look. The heels too were such bummer. Pumps/Brogues would have done the job.

3. Amrita Arora

The Hair – The Hair. Mommy-To-Be would have looked alot better had she skipped the handband/poofy crown look. Not feeling it.

4. Dia Mirza in Rocky S

Well we wont really blame Dia here, because we arent fans of the cut-work around the bust at first place. What could have taken the focus off were open hair – lets say Afro – would have looked great on Dia.

4. Gauri Khan

The Hair – The Hair – Ah so Prom-y. Gauri Y U NO do better hair-dos?

5. Kalki Koechlin in Christian Dior

The orange Dior was just the perfect pick for the event. What didnt work , again , were the Hair !
DIY : Just put a finger on the screen hiding the side bun/curls. Doesnt it transform the whole look?

6. Soha Ali Khan

Soha was one person who was THIS close to entering our Best Dressed List. The hair looked jaw-dropping sexy. However, what didnt work was the terribly misfit clutch bag. Had she skipped it altogether, it would have still been a 10/10 for us.

7. Neha Dhupia in Gauri & Nainika

One to always make striking appearances, Neha missed this one because of the necklace and the hair-do. The make-up too made her look washed out. If you want to know what we are talking about, compare it with the look from the runway. Agreed?

8. Preity Zinta in Gauri & Nainika

Just when we thought the red velevet gown looked great on Preity, the locks made us drop the idea. The ‘cutsie effect’ just doesnt go well with the classy feminine gown.

9. Sonali Bindre in Ramona Narang

What went Wrong – The fact that it was too safe :) We like but we arent impressed much.

Of Launches – Shantanu & Nikhil Store Launch

At the Mumbai store launch of Shantanu & Nikhil , Dia Mirza and Aditi Rao lent their support for the designer duo by dressing up in pieces from their collection. Both the ladies looked lovely and there’s hardly anything we can whine about. Brownie points to Aditi for the choice of footwear – they make up perfectly for the lack of color in the dress. However, we love Dia’s dress more for the added color and detailing on the skirt.
