The Red Carpet Favorite : Black Pants

Oddly enough, most ladies who attended the recently held Papparoti launch event in Karachi opted for a quintessential pair o’ black pants with varying styles of basic blouses & tunics. It was however the younger lot who actually experimented with their bottoms ; Areeba paired hers with a black studded blouse, braided side-bun & a headband, Zhalay Sarhadi with a bright floral top , orange strappy sandals & a tan bag and a guest (sorry we dont know her name) with a checkered blouse & Hermes leopard print pumps.

The older lot (excuse us ladies for the blatant categorization) stuck to longer wraps & tunics.

Fareshteh Aslam played host to the who’s who of fashion Industry at a recently held brunch at her place. She wore an ivory Shehla Chatoor kaftan dress with a baroque-print clutch & black footwear. Shehla herself was in attendance wearing a Jacket with Fur trimming from her FPW’2012 Chinoiserie collection over a nude pencil skirt & white shirt. Frieha Altaf too was snapped in a baroque print BCBG by Max Azria kaftan dress with Michael Kors heels and a Shanghai Tang clutch.

Loved Shehla’s in-house print Jacket but the clutch was a deal-breaker. Plus it would have been nice to see her hair away from the face & more importanly that lovely jacket. Among all three Ladies, Fareshteh was an absolute favorite !! She looked great head-toe-toe.

Shimmer and Shine

When in doubt, ~~wear black~~ shimmer & shine ! From Frieha Altaf to Shehla Chatoor, Sarah Waqar & Ranaa Khan, these ladies rocked their respective New Years Parties in sparkly short numbers. Particularly loved Sarah for keeping it fun & chic by way of the burgundy lips & hot pink sleeve. Shehla too stole the night in her gold sequin dress , nude peep-toes & an Alexander Mcqueen clutch.

In Marc Jacobs : Frieha Altaf at Masala Awards

At the Masala Awards held in Dubai last week, designer duo Sana Safinaz were crowned as the ‘Best International Designer of the Year’ . In attendance was Frieha Altaf wearing a strapless grey Marc Jacobs dress who received the coveted award from Sophie Choudry (in Manish Malhotra). Frieha almost always wows us, but this time we’re iffy over the choice of the dress itself and the excessive bronzer/tanning issues make it worse. Would have loved to see her in Manish Malhotra or even Sana Safinaz for that matter.

On a side note, congratulations to Sana Safinaz for much deserved win.

Bonanza Winter Collection 2012 Launch

Bonanza Garments recently launched their new winter collection at Dolmen Mall Karachi. In attendance were Anoushey Ashraf & Frieha Altaf both lending their support in Bonanza ready-to-wear outfits. While both the ladies styled their outfits with black strappy sandals, Frieha added a Fashion Compassion clutch to complete her look. Its hard to pick a favorite between the two so we’ll give this one to both of them (a rather rare moment on A Wardrobe Affair :P ).

P.S. Anoushey has been sporting some desi looks quite a number of times recently, and she pulls it off with alot of elegance. Keep ‘em coming Anoushey – we approve !

Sartorially speaking , Frieha has been on a roll in the past couple of weeks. From short numbers, to fresh off-the runway separates , to eastern silhouettes, she has donned ‘em all. Detailed critique over each look aside, the hair look really nice – looks like somebody finally took our advice ( read here ) …and for GOOD ! ;) . Here’s your look at what Frieha’s wearing in all four appearances:

Look 1 : Day 3 Fashion Pakistan Week 2012

For Day 3 of the recently concluded Fashion Pakistan Week 2012 , Frieha wore a Black silk Radzimir dress with white silk mesh by Marc Jacobs (See here). A perfect pair of studded Louboutins & red lips completed her look. She looked absolutely Fab. Loved the hair & make-up done by Toni & Guy .

For Day 1 of FPW 2012, Frieha wore a baroque print Shameel Ansari shirt that the designer recently exhibited at Karachi. Not much fan of the shirt itself , but Frieha wore it well with the copper Vivienne Westwood heart heels ( buy here) & minimal accessories.

Look 3 : In Shehla Chatoor At Fashion Pakistan Week 2012

It was a Shehla Chatoor jumpsuit from the designer’s “Birds of Paradise” collection on another day of FPW. Compared to the runway model , we think Frieha fared her’s much better with a different belt.

Look 4 : In Wardha Saleem – at Lal’s Patisserie Launch

For the recently held launch of Lal’s Patisserie in Karachi, Frieha picked hot-off-the-Fashion Pakistan Week-runway separates from Wardha Saleem‘s collection. Between the geometric prints, the monochrome clutch, the earrings and the YSL Tribute sandals, the look felt tab bit overwhelming. In a perfect world , we would have wanted her to skip the cropped pants and the clutch OR stylized it exactly as on the runway model.
P.S. Love this Wardha Saleem tunic. Must Buy !

Spotted : Frieha Altaf in Sana Safinaz

Wearing a Sana Safinaz black halter neck gown, Frieha Altaf posed for the photogs at a recent perfume launch in Karachi.
The cut & fall of the dress fell nicely on Frieha & she wore it well. However, we wish she had kept the hair away from the neckline & opted for strappy sandals instead. What do you guys think?

On a side note, here’s hoping we spot some outfits from the designer duo’s latest Silk collection on the Red Carpets soon.
